Heartwood, called duramen, is old sapwood that no longer carries sap. Heartwood formation occurs spontaneously and is a genetically programmed process. Once heartwood formation is complete it hardens and provides strength & structural support to the tree. The keywords here are structural support and that is what the companies below provide, a heart of core structural strength to carry forward the restoration process of our rain forests.
